How To Play
Setup
Place the pop-up buckets and flags around your yard however you like.
Set up corresponding tee boxes, setting distances for the desired level of difficulty
Gameplay
Bucketgolf is played like normal golf or miniature golf.
Once the course is set up, players alternate teeing off, and the player furthest from the hole hits first.
In Bucketgolf, to finish a hole, you must hit the bucket with the ball.
Like in normal golf, there are a variety of games to play within the game as opposed to just getting the lowest score for the whole round. Games listed in the Bucketgolf rule book include match play (also known as Skins), 5-3-1, team alternate shot, team best ball, and Pig & Wolf.
You can also play bucket pong, similar to other games where getting a ball in a bucket removes the bucket, and it’s a race to see who can remove all the buckets first.
Scoring
Scoring is like other golf games where each time hitting the ball counts as one stroke
In Bucketgolf, if you get the ball in the bucket instead of just hitting the outside of the bucket, you subtract one stroke for that whole.
Hitting the flag or flag pole does not count as completing the hole.
For traditional gameplay, the player with the fewest strokes for the round wins.
History
Bucketgolf started in 2016, when friends played golf with buckets. As interest in the game grew, they decided to begin manufacturing and selling it. They do so under the business name of Elevate Sports LLC, which is located in Emeryville, California.
Golf as a sport originated in Scotland during the 15th century. People began by hitting pebbles with sticks. In 1457, King James II of Scotland banned golf because he saw it as a distraction from practicing archery. King James IV lifted the ban, and the world thanks him, as it has become one of the most popular games in the world.
The first known written rules of golf are credited to a tournament in Edinburgh in 1744. In 1764, the 18-hole version of the game came into vogue, and it has stuck ever since.
Since the creation of golf, there have been all sorts of variations ranging from backyards to simulators. The game continues to evolve, and Bucketgolf is a part of that evolution.
